Four months had passed since that fateful night on Commerce Road. There had been a Passing of an Age in more ways than one. A lot had changed in the WWE landscape. It was time for her to return. But not to what she left behind for she would walk onto a bigger stage. Cap Kota. King Kota. Whatever nickname you choose.

August 30th 2022. Nashville, Tennessee. Nissan Stadium. It was the SummerSlam you thought you'd never see. And I'm not talking about Brock Lesner and the tractor. Dakota Kai returned to WWE alongside Bayley and IYO SKY (formerly Io Shirai) to confront RAW Women's Champion Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch after their match. Bayley made her surprise return after a year of recovery. Just as it seemed she had come alone, that ole familiar Kombat. Dakota Kai came out to stand beside her. IYO would follow. They confronted Belair in the ring with Bayley stating she had the best in the whole damn world at her side. Lynch who showed her rival respect after their match stood beside her ready to fight.

Bayley, Kai and SKY would strategically live to fight another day. Bianca and Becky would have to wait. Just like Bayley did. And both Kai and SKY have had to do for years.

Shortly after backstage, this new fellowship would be asked for comment. Bayley responded they'd have to wait just like they did. And so The Second Age of Dakota Kai begins with more questions than answers. Of course, Bayley's words offer a hint. But instead of speculating we shall wait to hear what King Kota, The Genius of the Sky and The Role Model have to say.

Kai had been released from her WWE contract on April 29th 2022, however got hired back by the new management over SummerSlam 2022 weekend. Her return came about barely the day before the event according to interviews.
