October 20, 2023. San Antonio, Texas. AT&T Center. SmackDown. Charlotte gets another crack at the WWE Women's Championship because Idiot Magnus decided to punish Damage CTRL for interference in a triple threat match with no disqualification. Utterly ridiculous. But last weekend on The SmackDown LowDown, Our Wise Captain Dakota Kai put IYO SKY's title defense against Charlotte in a positive perspective. She stated that when IYO was victorious, The Genius of the SKY would solidify herself as the greatest. And that's exactly what happened.
Charlotte and IYO had a grueling match. Nothing Charlotte did kept IYO down. Charlotte thought she had the title won after cutting SKY down with a spear. But Bayley came to the rescue for her Damage CTRL sister, ensuring a foot made it to the rope and calling it to the referee's attention. Charlotte is a certified cheater so I don't consider what Bayley did cheating rather comeuppance. Bayley made a worthy sacrifice for IYO, stealing the referee's attention by enduring a Charlotte beating. That allowed Dakota to sneak IYO the championship.
Dakota distracted the referee while Charlotte charged at IYO like a bull at a matador. Instead of a gore, Charlotte smacked head-first into Damage CTRL's championship, crashing to the canvas in a heap. 1-2-3. And still your WWE Women's Champion IYO SKY. First of all, Charlotte has only herself to blame for taking her eyes off the prize to rear her head at Bayley. Secondly, Charlotte the Cheater got long-deserved comeuppance for her past. Lastly, IYO fought a 14 time champion tooth and nail and won, so regardless of anything else she can call herself the greatest.
Bayley and IYO decided to do everyone a favor and deliver a post-victory beating to Charlotte. If successful, they could have sidelined Charlotte for a time, an undeserved favor to so many of their fellow competitors. But no... that constant pain from their past Bianca Belair just had to make her return to ruin things. They were actually doing her a favor too. Belair struck Bayley and IYO. Unlike back in February, at least Belair didn't attack the still injured Dakota. The Role Model saved IYO from The KOD but in the process felt the all too familiar feel of one herself.
Bianca and Charlotte hinted a continuation of their entitled-minded alliance that some will say bolds poorly for The Ladies. But Damage CTRL have overcome so match that I beg to differ. If Belair persists her obsession with The Ladies, she may find herself back to eating meals through a straw. At least this time she'd have Charlotte in the bed next to her. The big question is how long until and who first begs the nurses to keep the privacy curtain up and for earplugs. Bayley could even show up and smack them both with a bed pan. Give me a HELL YEAH to that!
