April 3rd 2023. Crypto.com Arena. Los Angeles, California. The RAW After WrestleMania is the start of a new year for WWE. On this New Damage Day, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY began what I'll call The Revenge Tour for their WrestleMania 39 Saturday loss by facing Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan in a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship #1 Contender's Match. Bayley was noticeably absent from their corner. I won't think ill thoughts on that. Perhaps she wanted to give her girls the spotlight. That makes sense. That's the Bayley we know, love and respect.

Kai started the match for Damage CTRL against her former friend Raquel. Raquel tried to lift Kai up but she had it scouted and pointed that out. Quite literally. Kai went for the scorpion kick but Raquel had that scouted, catching her in a stretch muffler. Raquel wouldn't let go of Kai, giving her a couple swings in the muffler position. Kai bounced back with a jawbreaker and successful scorpion kick.

Liv tagged in and Dakota invited Morgan to come at her. Morgan caught Kai with a forearm but when Liv went for a charge, Dakota instead cut her off with a nasty pump kick, crumpling Watch Me's head over the top rope. Watch that! Morgan shot back with a backstabber like she backstabbed Tegan Nox by switching to Raquel. Kai tagged out to IYO who found herself tossed to the floor. Kai came at Morgan and got backdropped out of the ring. Raquel got the tag and powerbombed Morgan over the top rope onto both opponents. SKY & Kai controlled the match during the ads.

Upon the return from break, Morgan took down SKY with a codebreaker. Both women made tags. Raquel mauled Kai with three brutal clotheslines. Fallaway slam. Raquel came off the second rope with the corkscrew elbow. Kai got her knees up to block then rolled over to tag in IYO who in turn tagged Kai. They went for a double suplex but Raquel instead lifted Kai over her shoulders and snake eyes tossed her into SKY. Raquel lifted Kai up for the Tejana Bomb but SKY on the apron successfully pulled her partner free.

Kai turned around for offense, getting pounced into SKY by Raquel. IYO fell to the floor. Kai came at Raquel with a pump kick only to get caught in and dropped with the bomb. Liv tagged in and planted Dakota with ObLIVion to score the pinfall victory. Raquel held SKY back from making a save. It wasn't a win, however Kai & SKY fought a good fight. The camera caught a glimpse in the background of Kai & SKY helping each other to the back, giving me positive vibes for their future as a team. The future of The Ladies. Of Damage CTRL. Dakota Kai. IYO SKY. Bayley.
