Evie had defeated Shazza McKenzie earlier in the night to advance to the finals of the Jenny & Vera Memorial Cup Tournament. Her opponents in this triple threat match would be the other finalists Toni Storm and KC Cassidy (Cassie Lee / Peyton Royce). There was absolutely nothing inspirational to the Australian fans about the way Evie attacked Cassidy from behind during her entrance. But for Evie it was quite the iconic way to announce her arrival.
There was no mercy shown as Evie tossed Cassidy arm first into the metal barrier and kicked her on the floor. Storm attacked Evie and sent her into the ring to signal the opening bell. All three women tried to end it early going for roll-ups. Evie tossed Storm to the floor and struck Cassidy with a PK from the apron to control the opening moments. Cassidy continued to get pummeled on the outside, her face smashed into the apron twice.
Cassidy's arm was worked over by Evie until Storm waffled her with a roundhouse kick. Storm stalked Evie around the ring, unleashing a succession of kicks on The Captain of Team Kick. Evie turned things in her favor, catching Storm in wheelbarrow position and swinging her face first into the metal barrier. Storm slumped to the wooden floor neck first, prone for Evie to roll back into the ring for the win. Cassidy would not let that occur, attacking Evie with a kick. But she was favoring her arm, giving Evie back quick control once back in the ring.
Evie sat on top Cassidy, wrenching her arm to work it over. Cassidy managed to reverse the wrench into a pin, rolling up Evie for a two count. Evie retailed swiftly, clubbing Cassidy across the back of her neck. Storm had recouped a bit and attempted to reenter the ring only for Evie to baseball slide dropkick her back to the floor. Cassidy had a moment to recoup herself, taking control with a headbutt, jawbreaker and side kick. She continued her attack, monkey flipping Evie across the ring and landing a charging side kick in the corner.
Cassidy brought Evie to the canvas with a snapmare followed by a legdrop with a cover for only a two count. Evie took back control, sending Cassidy into the second turnbuckle with a drop toe hold. Cassidy's arm was stretched out in the corner until Evie switched to a boot choke to the throat. Once again Storm tried to reenter the ring, only to be again stopped by Evie who nearly decapitated her with a roundhouse kick. Evie returned her attention to Cassidy, punishing her with boot scrapes to the face and the running face wash.
Evie appeared a bit frantic going for the cover and no doubt felt more so after Cassidy kicked out at two. Toni successfully reentered the ring and got in a few shots on Evie only to be felled by both a hard kick to the back and running kick to the chest. Evie only got a two count on the pin attempt and decided to push Storm to the floor to focus on Cassidy. She bodyslammed Cassidy near the ropes and ascended to the top. Unbeknownst to Evie, Storm climbed onto the apron. She pushed Evie all the way to the canvas and followed that with two dropkicks and a codebreaker.
Storm struck Evie with double knees in the corner but only got two on the pin attempt. Cassidy surprised both women, grounding them with a crossbody from the top rope. She stayed on top looking for the pin but they both kicked out. Storm took control, delivering a fisherman suplex with a bridge to Cassidy for a two count. She climbed to the top only to be cut off by a charging Yakuza kick from Evie. Evie went for the superplex and Cassidy for a powerbomb, resulting in a tower of doom that brought all three down to the canvas in a heap.
Cassidy and Storm got up first but it was Toni who took control, delivering a codebreaker. Storm followed that by driving Evie face first to the canvas with a double underhook facebuster. Cassidy surprised Storm with a basement crossbody into a cover for a two. Storm was tossed to the outside by Cassidy who upon turning her focus to Evie was taken down with a uranage backbreaker followed by a cover for two. Cassidy haphazardly ended up in the corner giving Evie the perfect shot to strike.
Evie charged Cassidy with the Yakuza kick in mind, but instead struck Storm who was on the apron when KC ducked out of the way. Evie made a lunge for Cassidy who ducked, kicking her opponent in the gut. Cassidy smashed Evie in the face with a charging knee strike, sending her to the canvas. That was enough to keep Evie down for the three count and victory. Evie joined the other women who competed at the event on the stage as Cassidy proudly held up the Memorial Cup she had earned. Amongst the competitors, there was a young Aussie in a blue top.
That young woman's name: Demi Bennett. She does look brutally familiar, doesn't she?
