Evie was fresh off wins over Kay Lee Ray and Mia Yim earning herself a Shimmer Championship match against Nicole Matthews. The Berwyn Eagles Club had been a good venue for Evie -- especially against Nicole whom she defeated there earlier in the year. But since that match, Nicole had become Shimmer Champion and acquired some fiery offense. Literally. Matthews scorched Evie's friend and mentor Madison Eagles with a fireball during the fatal four elimination match where she won the championship. Prior to her title match, Evie warned Nicole not to pull that stunt with her.
Bent on revenge Madison Eagles assaulted Nicole following the introductions. Once the referee gaggle escorted Eagles to the back the opening bell rang. Nicole argued with referee Bryce Remsburg (if that is his real name) she wasn't ready, allowing Evie to sneak her up for several pin attempts. Nicole kicked out each time before rolling to the floor to regroup. Evie wouldn't let Nicole rest for long, kicking her hard in the chest with a PK from the apron. She struck Nicole with a series of forearms and kicks before sending her back into the ring. Evie continued her attack, cracking Nicole's back with a snap-of-a-kick.
Evie landed a couple more hard kicks to Nicole's back followed by a running kick to the chest. Boot rakes to the face and a face wash from Evie delivered more pain to the champion. Evie jackknife covered Nicole who kicked out at two. Nicole got struck by a rolling elbow in the corner but rebounded an Irish whip slamming Evie's body head first to the mat. Nicole repeatedly slammed Evie to the mat a few more times followed by a snapmare and kick to the back.
Nicole backdropped Evie to the apron but she hung on. A springboard attempt by Evie was met with a big boot from Nicole knocking her onto the apron. Nicole brutalized Evie both on the floor and in the ring with kicks and chokes. Evie fed off the crowd to escape a chinlock only for Nicole to catch her with a fallaway slam. Evie fired back, catching Nicole with a series of kicks, the third striking Nicole on the side of her head. Nicole stopped Evie from hitting a move off the top only for Evie to spike her to the mat with a tornado DDT.
Evie stayed in control delivering a series of moves including the uranage backbreaker. Nicole avoided the charging Yakuza kick and delivered a bridging German suplex. Evie kicked out at two. Nicole caught a kick from Evie turning her over in the Liontamer. But Evie escaped kicking Nicole into the corner. This time Evie connected with the Yakuza kick. She hesitated going for the pin, looking up to ponder a Coup-de-Evie. Instead, she decided just to cover Nicole who got her shoulder up before the three.
Both women were perspiring heavily having been through a war. A combination of kicks staggered Nicole. Evie tried a roundhouse but Nicole ducked and delivered a lariat. She followed with a brainbuster. Evie slipped off her shoulders and scooped her onto her own, successfully hitting TTYL. Evie covered Nicole who barely survived getting her foot on the bottom rope. Evie ascended to the top to deliver Coup-de-Evie. But Nicole desperately pushed Bryce into the rope, causing Evie to crash. Nicole executed the Vancouver Maneuver and won by pinfall.
