Evie looked to rebound from her loss to Shimmer Champion Nicole Matthews at Shimmer Volume 69 earlier that day. Standing in her way at Shimmer Volume 70 was Jenny Rose who had achieved much success since 2010 including an extended time in Japan where she honed a new ring style for herself. But Evie was already a veteran herself having had success across the globe. This was a pivotal match for both as they hoped to end this Shimmer cycle with a win.

The match started with Rose extending her hand which Evie shook. Rose would play crafty though seconds later, asking for a test of strength only to lure Evie into a waistlock. Evie reversed into a waistlock of her own only for Rose to reverse and deliver a leg takedown into a headlock on the canvas. Evie managed to counter into a wristlock but Rose would counter that into her own wristlock and back to a headlock.

After some more counters, Evie would manage to her feet out of a headlock and whip Rose to the ropes. The two collided but neither went down. Rose tried again this time knocking Evie to the canvas with a shoulder tackle. Evie caught Rose with a rebound dropkick but her opponent shot back with an O'Connor roll for a two count. Evie fired back with a roll-up of her own but Rose kicked out. It was the proverbial stalemate.

Rose asked for another test of strength only to kick Evie in the shin and whip her to the corner. She followed up with a corner clothesline and suplex. Rose switched things up, applying a Texas cloverleaf with an armlock. As Evie tried to wiggle free, Rose applied more pressure, at one point even using Evie's arm to lift her up and back down on the canvas. Rose would break the submission after delivering a hip attack to Evie's spine.

Evie and Rose exchanged forearm shots until Rose got the better of her, trapping her into the corner after a series of rapid fire forearms. Rose looked to whip Evie to the opposite corner but Evie reversed it, Rose slumping down against the turnbuckles upon impact. Evie delivered a series of boot scrapes to the face followed by the running face wash and a jacknife pin for two. She charged Rose in the corner only to receive a back elbow.

Jenny climbed to the second rope but Evie cut her off by grabbing her arm. Rose reversed it, coming down off the rope and armdragging Evie to the canvas. Evie shot back with a charge, getting scooped up into a sidewalk slam. Rose followed up with a rebound clothesline off a whip followed by a picture perfect diving clothesline from the top rope. Rose and Evie traded waistlocks until Evie caught Rose with a uranage backbreaker. Evie kept up on her offense, connecting with a missile dropkick off the top rope and stacking Rose for a two.

Rose elbowed her way free from TTYL, planting Evie face first with a DDT. Evie ducked out of the way when Rose charged her in the corner. Rose could see that Evie was tuning up for the charging Yakuza kick. She hurried over to the opposite corner as Evie charged, however the Kiwi simply circled around, catching Rose with the kick. Evie lifted Rose onto her shoulders and nailed TTYL to score the pinfall victory. After the match, Evie helped Rose up into an embrace. Evie in turn got a playful pat on the head from Rose before she took her leave.
