Evie vs. Kellie Skater at MCW Fight To Survive 2015

It was New Zealand's best Evie against Australia's best Kellie Skater. New Zealander Evie was hardly popular with the proud Australian fans. Therefore Evie would be briefly cast for her return to her new home, Melbourne City Wrestling, as a heel. This was a role she was not accustomed to during most her career so far, however not completely unfamiliar too either. She had been a heel for a time in her hometown promotion IPW as part of The Investment faction and during her first MCW appearances around that same time period.

Evie returned to MCW to be the top female superstar she felt was missing. The Australian fans would argue that in their opinion Kellie Skater was already the new top star and Evie was not wanted. Evie showed the hostile crowd no love back, verbally lashing out at them. The crowd made no effort to show our Captain the respect she deserved so really, she was just showing them how to show a lack of respect a bit better.

Commentary gave Evie some respect pointing out she's not only one of the best wrestlers, she's also one of the toughest. This may have been her first match against Skater in MCW but they had met many times elsewhere and even teamed up at Shine 18. Prior to the opening bell, Evie discovered she had at least one fan in the audience. Evie showed that if you are Team Kick you're cool with her and gave him a high five.

Skater and Evie started with a series of reversals. Evie broke clean at the ropes only to hammerlock toss Skater over her head. An Irish whip party with evasion by leapfrog and rolls followed. Skater got the better of the exchange springboard armdragging Evie to the canvas. But Evie got up quick and struck Skater with a kick to the gut. Evie came at Skater who cut her off with two dropkicks. Skater charged Evie in the corner only to get backdropped onto the apron. Evie swiftly followed that up sending Skater to the floor with a charging crescent kick.

Evie took a moment to stare out at the crowd with disdain before climbing out to the apron where she nailed Skater with a PK. She proved she can chop with the best cracking a nasty one across Skater's chest. Evie made sure to roll back into the ring for a moment to break the referee's ten count, however that gave Skater the moment of respite she needed. Skater had fans hold Evie's arms so she couldn't move, delivering a hard chop to her chest. She followed with a second. Evie stopped her effort to go for three with a rake of the eyes.

Taking a moment to do a crane stance back in the ring, Evie gave Skater an opening to land a kick to the gut that whiplashed the back of her head into the bottom turnbuckle. Evie cleverly saw her opponent coming not a moment later, sending Skater into the middle buckle with a drop toe hold. She continued to stay in control, boot scraping her canvassed rival after a turnbuckle smash. It would not stop there. Evie charged Skater and struck her with the running face wash. She went for a pin but Skater kicked out at two.

Evie whipped Skater to the corner after mocking her with some feint kicks. Skater got both her feet up as Evie charged, dropkicking her. The Aussie flipped to the apron off the dropkick and sunset flipped Evie to return to the ring. Evie kicked out at two and rebounded smashing Skater to the canvas, the back of her skull hitting first. The assault continued with Evie cracking Skater across the spine with a kick. She leapfrogged over Skater to go for the running kick only to freeze and instead crack her with a nasty savate kick to the jaw.

Our Captain stacked Skater up for only a two count growing frustrated. In that frustration she resorted to her rare submission arsenal, applying a camel clutch. She smiled wickedly twisting Skater's head to add more pressure. Evie put a stop to Skater's attempt to get free with a crossface strike across her neck. Skater took control moments later planting Evie off a charge with a DDT. Both women slowly got to their feet quite spent. They traded strikes and kicks with Skater coming out the better of the exchange. Repeated kicks to Evie's chest followed.

Skater went for a roundhouse kick. However, Evie ducked it and rolled her up only for Skater to roll through her pin attempt and crack her skull with the roundhouse this time. Evie looked groggy but her mind remained sharp, surprising Skater with a big boot to the jaw when she came at her. Skater was slow to her feet so Evie kept her on the canvas with a running kick to the chest. It was time to end this. Evie lifted Skater up for TTYL only for her to slip off. Skater went for a clothesline but Evie cut her off with the scorpion kick.

Evie tried another roundhouse only for Skater to catch her foot and apply the ankle lock looking for a submission victory. She fought off the pain, crawling over to the corner and kicking Skater into the top turnbuckle to break the hold. Evie followed with her charging Yakuza kick. She went for a second but Skater moved away. Skater took control, lifting the Kiwi onto her shoulders and law darting her to the opposite turnbuckle. That was followed by a brutal lariat from Skater. Evie just barely kicked of the pin attempt.

Skater went for a hammerlock Russian leg sweep but Evie countered with a uranage backbreaker. Evie went for a cover but Skater kicked out at two. Our Captain lifted Skater up again for TTYL and struck her down this time. Skater was close to the ropes but Evie did not want to waste precious time dragging her away. She smartly held Skater's arms down as she covered her so she couldn't reach for the rope but her rival still managed to kick out. Evie nearly got herself disqualified threatening the referee in frustration.

Evie ascended to the top rope hoping to hit Coup-de-Evie. But Skater beat her too it, tossing her to the canvas. Skater successfully executed the hammerlock Russian leg sweep this time. Evie aggressively kicked out of the pin before rolling to the floor. She lured Skater into the crowd where the two battled until the referee's count of ten caused the match to end in a draw.

Skater demanded five more minutes. The referee agreed to restart the match at the behest of Skater and the crowd. Biased much? Nonetheless, even with the blatant favoritism intended to work against her Evie rolled Skater up for the pinfall victory. Skater was perspiring -- her tights slippery because of it -- so being the kind soul she is Evie held onto them during the pin to ensure her opponent wouldn't have a wardrobe malfunction.

Now I know some may argue Evie intended to cause a double countout when it looked like she couldn't defeat Skater then took advantage of the restart. I'd say Our Captain just outsmarted Kellie Skater. Evie: The Captain of Intelligence.
