Shimmer Volume 83 saw Evie face an adversary she had defeated at Shine 26. Now more experienced and even more aggressive third generation wrestler Tessa Blanchard was out for revenge. Evie would take the loss, however there was a silver lining that would later present itself. Tessa tried to talk down Evie during the introduction. Evie shrugged it off not falling for her nonsense.
Tessa ducked a couple clotheslines to start things off. On the third, Evie lured her in on purpose, rolling her up from behind for a pinfall attempt. She followed that up with a backslide and another roll-up. Tessa avoided the three only to be kicked hard in the chest five times. The callback with the same trifecta pinfall sequence from their Shine 26 match was a nice touch.
Evie did her signature snapmare and running kick combo. She would follow it up with an ax kick and snap-of-a-kick combo. Tessa kicked out of a pin attempt and retreated to the floor. Evie slipped onto the apron to set up the running PK, however like in their Shine 26 match Tessa caught her leg and dropped her face first.
Back in the ring, Tessa delivered a nasty snapmare and kick to Evie's back. Evie barely kicked out at two, the impact of Tessa's aggression stinging through her body. Tessa delivered a charging elbow strike to Evie's back between working over her leg. Evie managed to deliver a uranage backbreaker out of an Irish whip after Tessa landed consecutive knee strikes to the stomach.
Evie and Tessa fired away with strong elbow strikes while trying to get to their feet. Tessa ran the ropes to come back at Evie only for The Captain of Team Kick to cut her off with a big boot. Evie followed up with two clotheslines and a dropkick but missed the charging Yakuza kick. Evie evaded the hammerlock DDT, waffling Tessa to the mat with a roundhouse kick.
Even with a bad leg, Evie struck Tessa with her signature charging Yakuza kick. Evie tried to lift Tessa up for TTYL, but her hurt leg couldn't support the weight. Tessa intended to charge Evie in the corner after her first effort landed a back elbow. This time Evie flipped over Tessa and rolled her up for a two count. Tessa swiftly retook control chop blocking Evie.
Tessa distracted the referee, allowing her ally at ringside, Vanessa Kraven, to big boot Evie. Blanchard spiked Evie to the mat with a hammerlock DDT, giving her the pinfall win. The loss was unfortunate -- especially with the interference -- but the previously mentioned silver lining would soon reveal itself.
Later that day, Shimmer Tag Team Champions The Kimber Bombs successfully defended their tag team titles again. But again with an assist from the title belts. They were informed they would meet the three teams they screwed over in a four corner elimination match at Shimmer Volume 84. One of these three teams would be Evie & Heidi Lovelace, collectively know as Team Slap Happy.
