Dakota Kai would continue training at the WWE Performance Center and wrestle at NXT House Shows following her loss to Kairi Sane in the quarterfinals of the Mae Young Classic. She even participated in an air hockey night with fellow NXT wrestlers defeating Shane Thorne. Kai would appear twice on WWE NXT television. Her first appearance was a backstage promo on September 20, 2017 and second was competing in a Battle Royal on October 25, 2017 to decide the final spot in the NXT Women's Title Match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. Kai was not successful. In a humorous segment taped for social media, Kai and Kairi participated in a striking accuracy test with Liv Morgan serving as the judge. And feeding Dakota, Kairi and interviewer Christy St. Cloud pringles. Kai revealed her favorite kicks are the Yakuza (Kaio-Kick) and Scorpion.
