April 5, 2022. NXT. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne did not waste any time getting a rematch against Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez. The new NXT Women's Tag Team Champions didn't take kindly to Mandy Rose and her baddies promising to take them out of action. They retorted back that they have done more harm to each other this past year than Toxic Attraction can do. Such a statement was put to the test during the match. Dakota enjoyed the action from the apron early on, making playful expressions as her tag partner dished out pain.

When they took control, Gigi and Jacy focused their efforts on Raquel's leg which was clearly not recovered from their attack on it last month. Dakota Kai was a house of fire when Raquel was able to make a tag. The combo offense of a Coup-de-Kai and Raquel's elbow-bomb felt like it could bring them victory. But Jacy broke up Raquel's pin attempt on Gigi. Wendy Choo came to ringside to cheer on her friend Dakota Kai, however Mandy Rose attacked Choo from behind tossing her into the steps. Dakota rushed over to guard Wendy, conflicted if to re-enter the fray or stay on the floor to protect her friend in case Mandy continued her attack.

Further distraction from Mandy allowed her baddies to take out Raquel with their finisher Toxic Shock. Jacy proceeded to pin Raquel for the team and recapture the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles. Wendy, Dakota and Raquel consoled one another as they were forced to watch Toxic Attraction stand in the aisle with all the NXT women's titles rubbing salt in the wound with trash talk. But this was not the last we'd see of Dakota Kai on that night. Later on backstage, a furious Dakota Kai addressed the NXT Women's Champion: "Mandy Rose! You are NOT safe."

On Tuesday April 12, 2022, NXT will present the match over five months in the making. The broken soul within Dakota Kai has been healed. Now Dakota Kai seeks to end Mandy Rose's reign of terror she inadvertently helped start back at Halloween Havoc. To avenge her friends and loss. And to finally win the NXT Women's Championship she has fought her heart out to hold for so long.

The match took place on WWE NXT April 5, 2022 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. After nearly seven months, Dakota Kai's official WWE shirt was finally advertised in the WWE NXT Shop commercial starting the week after this episode aired. It would continue to appear in the commercial through the April 26, 2022 episode. The shirt would be pulled from WWE Shop following her release. A new shirt to commemorate her return was released on WWE Shop following WWE SummerSlam 2022.
