April 5, 2018 to April 8, 2018. New Orleans, Louisiana. WrestleMania 34 Weekend. The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center was host to WrestleMania Axxess 2018. There would plenty of matches throughout the days featuring wrestlers from NXT, the future NXT UK, 205 Live and independent promotion Evolve. An invitational tournament would be held to decide who would receive a match against the winner of the Shayna Baszler versus Ember Moon NXT Women's Championship Match at TakeOver. The match would take place hours before WrestleMania.

Dakota's first round match against Lacey Evans took place on April 6. It was another win for Kai over the self-proclaimed First Lady of NXT. Dakota would compete in three matches on April 7. Bianca Belair would face Kai in a non-tournament match. Dakota would defeat The EST to gain momentum heading into her semi final against the insane Nikki Cross. The Captain of Team Kick prevailed advancing to the final where she won the invitational defeating Peyton Royce. On April 8, Kai would take the loss to new NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler.

The biggest moment of Our Captain's first WrestleMania Weekend would see her compete as one of the NXT representatives in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal during the Kickoff on April 8. Kai took the long walk to the ring alongside fellow competitors, staring out at the massive crowd in attendance at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. In the early going, Kai and fellow NXT competitors Peyton Royce, Kairi Sane, Kavita Devi, Bianca Belair and Taynara Conti took a moment to repersent declaring "We Are NXT!" and starting a loud NXT chant at WrestleMania.

Dakota Kai and Bianca Belair worked together to eliminate Kai's future Toxic rival Mandy Rose. Taynara and Kai would soon eliminate Rose's Absolution stablemate Sonya Deville. Speaking of stablemates, Dakota would tangle briefly with future Damage CTRL lady Bayley. Becky Lynch would eliminate her future rival-turned-ally Belair only to get smashed in the face by a Kaio-Kick from The Captain of Team Kick who was out to avenge her eliminated NXT sister-in-battle. So many threads were spun in 2018 that we've revisted in some way in 2022.

Our Captain wasn't done with the kicks, tossing eventual winner Naomi to the corner and nailing her with a Kaio-Kick. Dakota turned her attention to Sasha Banks, coming straight at her for a third Kaio-Kick. Banks would move out of the way, causing Kai's foot to get trapped on the rope. Banks proceeded to toss Kai over the top rope to eliminate her. It was an insane night for Kai who got emotional recounting her WrestleMania experience alongside her fellow NXT competitors during a WWE Digital Exclusive.

Even with a couple loses, it was still a victory of a weekend for Our Captain. To leave kayfabe briefly: The highlight of it all was Becky Lynch selflessly selling the Kaio-Kick like she had just been murdered making Our Captain look even more badass.
