Dakota Kai marched off to war hoping to end Raquel Gonzalez and find serenity. Her road to NXT WarGames 2021 saw her face Kay Lee Ray in an advantage ladder match on NXT November 30, 2021. These forever rivals were no strangers having had bangers against each other in SHIMMER prior to signing with WWE. They had even met once on NXT TV back on November 20th 2019. But they were very different people now. One such difference was that over the years they had both grown a sheer lust for violence they unapologetically unleashed on each other in their ladder match.

In the early going, Dakota would plant KLR face first to the steel steps with Roll of the Cap while later, KLR would pay her back dropping her the same to the commentary table with the KLR Bomb. In the between they would maul each other with kicks, dives and usage of the ladder itself. Dakota had victory in her grasp -- KLR on the canvas and her hands near the briefcase. But the voices in her head encouraged erratic behavior that ultimately cost her the win.

Dakota's loss to KLR put her at furious odds with WarGames teammate Gigi Dolin. In a WWE Digital Exclusive backstage segment after the match, Dolin insisted that if she had been in the match she would have won it. Kai burst in on her teammates and stood up to Dolin stating that if she had something to say, to say it to her face. It was a moment shades of Dakota's distant past when she stood up to bullies instead of partaking in such behavior herself.

Toxic Attraction and Dakota Kai shared a rival in Raquel. But beyond that there weren't many similarities. Toxic Attraction only cared about each other, merely tolerating Dakota because at least she was on their team. KLR as a rival respected Dakota more than her own WarGames teammates did. The road to WarGames had been a shaky one and that didn't bode well for Dakota Kai and Toxic Attraction heading into the violent and chaotic match.

Mandy Rose sensed their powder keg of a team could outright explode. She managed to defuse the aggression -- telling everyone to get their shit together. Mandy promised that her team would be the most cohesive team come WarGames. But how does Dakota whose out of her mind even get her shit together? Only time would tell if Dakota Kai and Toxic Attraction would get along let alone win WarGames.
