Nixon Newell braved her fears and ultimately stood up to the haunting Rosemary (Courtney Rush) at Shimmer Volume 85 in June 2016. The year was coming to a close and the beginning of its end for Nixon would see her enter the lair of the Demon Assassin once more. This time she would defend the British Empire Women's Championship against her in a Purge Match. Her title wasn't the only gold on the line as Rosemary would defend the TNA Knockouts Championship. It's emphasized the champion who is pinned will lose their title. Keep that in mind for later.
For those of you who are curious what a Purge Match is. It's just a festive way of saying street fight or hardcore match. It's not actually a match where one competitor will try to permanently end the other before the sun rises. The Demon Assassin made a lunge for Nixon during the introductions. Perhaps some old fears briefly resurfaced as Nixon took shelter behind the referee. Rosemary wished herself luck, licking the Knockout's title belt before the bell rang.
Nixon showed no fear after the bell, clobbering the Demon Assassin with a fury of forearm shots. Newell went for a charging forearm only to be struck by a knee. Rosemary tied Nixon up in the ropes with a rope-hung crab that she only broke so she could pummel Nixon to the mat with a lariat from the apron. Nixon rolled to the outside, primed for a running PK. But Newell caught Rosemary's foot and swept her back first to the apron to take control. Rosemary got to her feet only to be knocked to the wooden floor by Nixon's running PK.
Newell grabbed Rosemary up and smashed her head first into the merchandise table, ring apron and chair in that succession. Rosemary shot back at the chair, smashing Nixon face first into it. Rosemary wasn't done with the chair, placing it around Nixon's neck and whipping her and it into the ring post. Nixon slumped to the floor in a heap. Rosemary helped her up against the opposite ring post and struck her across the chest with a hard chop followed by a double chop to her back.
Rosemary's chops just woke up a beast in Nixon as she fired back, delivering just as hard a chop to the Demon Assassin. Nixon put Rosemary against the ring post to deliver another chop but she moved away. Nixon's hand inflicted a lot of pain as it smashed hard against the ring post. Rosemary ended Nixon's brief fire, tossing her into the front row of chairs that the audience abandoned at the Demon Assassin's beckon. Nixon hit a couple of the chairs back first, her head spiking the floor as she slumped down.
There was no rest from the punishment dished out by Rosemary. Nixon was felled with a few uppercuts and another hard chop as she slumped across the bar. Rosemary took Nixon behind the entrance curtain and tossed her face first against a wall. The Demon Assassin proceeded to haul Nixon up a flight of stairs to the second floor overlooking the ring and bar. Nixon snuck back control trying to send Rosemary over the railing down to the hard wooden floor some feet below. So uh what I said about the Purge Match... Moving on...
Rosemary took back control, choking Nixon over the railing before hauling her up another shorter but still flight of stairs to the third floor. The Demon Assassin took off with a running charge intent on sending Nixon over the railing and all the way to the floor. Fortunately for Nixon, fellow wrestlers Alex Windsor and Little Miss Roxy grabbed her to safety. The incensed Rosemary brought Nixon back to the ringside area. Newell took control back at last, sitting Rosemary on a chair and unloading a succession of chops to her chest.
Nixon reached under the ring pulling out a bat, pizza pan and garland. Newell choked Rosemary with the garland before whipping it across her back. She gave a young fan at ringside the garland before walking to the opposite side of the ring to grab a skillet. Newell came at the Demon Assassin hoping to skillet her across the skull but Rosemary ducked and instead smashed Nixon's face into the metal. Rosemary rolled Nixon into the ring before unveiling a black bag. If you've followed pro-wrestling for even a bit you likely can guess what is inside that bag.
Rosemary reentered the ring only to get whacked across the head by a pizza pan courtesy of Nixon. But Nixon took too long to take another shot, getting whacked across her own head by another pizza pan courtesy of Rosemary. The two took turns whacking each other over the head with their respective pizza pans. Nixon won that battle and followed up with a roundhouse kick to the skull that sent Rosemary to the canvas. Newell wasted no time going for the bag, pouring the thumbtacks contained within over a portion of the canvas.
Nixon intended to Welsh Destroyer her opponent onto the tacks. But Rosemary countered, dropping Newell buttocks first on the tacks. Nixon gasped as the pain shot up through her body. She wasn't out of the fight just yet though, sneaking that bat underneath her. Rosemary's sadistic mind one upped her though, using the bat to choke Nixon after connecting with a running snapmare. Nixon proved to be just as if not more sadistic, grabbing a handful of tacks and shoving them down Rosemary's throat. Newell followed up with running forearm smashes and a kick to the chest in the corner.
Unable to score a fall after her offense, Nixon had one final card to play. She charged Rosemary intent on hitting the Shiniest Wizard. Rosemary evaded but Nixon surprised her, using the ropes as a springboard to yet strike her with the Shiniest Wizard. Rosemary was wobbly but didn't go down, instead spearing Nixon to the canvas. The impact of the move knocked out both women. All of sudden a third competitor appeared. Remember what I said earlier about keeping the rules of the match in mind?
Toni Storm in street clothes grabbed a microphone and declared that even though she wasn't cleared to compete, she wasn't going to sit back and let Rosemary win the BEW Women's Championship. Uh Toni, I'm pretty sure Nixon still had some fight left in her. Storm revealed she talked management into letting her compete in the match making it a triple threat. Rosemary tried to take out Toni with green mist during a staredown in the ring but Storm ducked, resulting in Newell being sprayed.
Storm unloaded a succession of hard chops that slumped the Demon Assassin in the corner before smashing her with the charging hip attack. Rosemary rolled out of the ring and Storm intended to keep her there, pouring salt on her. Nixon fought off the stinging in her eyes and swept Toni to the canvas as she turned her focus to her. Newell went for the Shiniest Wizard but Storm caught her in the air raid crash, bringing her down to the canvas to score the pinfall win.
Toni pinned Nixon so she won the BEW Women's Championship. But since Rosemary wasn't pinned she retained the TNA Knockouts Championship. All that matters in The Story of Nixon Newell though is that The Girl With the Shiniest Wizard was screwed over by Toni Storm. If not for Toni crashing the party, Nixon would have likely put Rosemary down for the count and become a double champion.
