Nixon Newell made her Death Match debut against the measuring stick of Combat Zone Wrestling, Rickey Shane Page. We all know Nixon had gone to war in hardcore match over the years, from Dakota Kai in Portland to Anthony Greene in Boston. Kay Lee Ray and Nixon massacred one another across the United Kingdom for years. But there are street fights… and there are death matches.

The CZW faithful were ready. The promotion that Jon Moxley forked his way through some years ago is the perfect grounds for a death match. The opening bell rang. Nixon and RSP traded holds. Wrestling! Until Nixon roughed it up, drilling her fist into RSP’s abdomen. RSP charged Nixon in the corner. Nixon evaded leaping over RSP. A rana sent RSP to the canvas, Nixon sunk RSP to the corner with a fierce charging uppercut, followed by a fiercer dropkick that smashed RSP into some light tubes, the patron deity of death match wrestlers descended to earth in the form of glass. That beautiful explosive, smashing sound!

RSP with a scoop slam and elbow drop, followed by tossing Nixon out of the corner onto a stop sign. The distance and hard landing were painful. RSP went for a Swanton Bomb off the top rope, a no water in the pool landing. Nixon with three consecutive crutch shots. The Welsh Dragon was merely getting warmed up. The kneepad covered in thumbtacks made its return, adorning Nixon’s knee. Thumbtack Kawada Kicks to RSP’s face! RSP’s blood began to pour. Two more crutch shots just because. Unfortunately, RSP rolled out of the way as Nixon attempted Cannonboar to the corner. A nasty backdrop sent Nixon inside and out onto her knees, landing on the canvas in excruciating pain.

Brutal more it got, RSP drilling a spike into Nixon’s forehead, opening it up. Nixon’ blood began to pour! Perhaps RSP wanted to have mercy on Nixon, grabbing light tubes and setting her up for his uranage into glass finish. But Nixon was still in the fight, evading the finisher and firing back at RSP, her Shiniest Wizard smashing the tubes in RSP’s face. Newell went for a pin, RSP kicked out. Nixon smashed RSP’s skull with two more tubes, followed by a third even nastier strike that didn’t break what was clearly an extra heavier duty tube. Just like a table that doesn’t break, that tube is going to hurt a bit more.

Nixon hit a tornado DDT, spiking RSP head first into a bunch of tubes. Even more blood had poured from Nixon’s forehead, it now resembling a pizza with sauce and no cheese. RSP and Nixon slapped each other back and forth, however RSP won the exchange with a nasty discus forearm shot. RSP grabbed a few tubes, debating whether to strike the likely final blow. Nixon didn’t want any sympathy, inviting him with her arms out AND a double bird, to bring the fucking violence. RSP did, smashing the tubes across Nixon’s skull, an explosive break reeling her to the canvas.

It was time to end this. RSP set Nixon up on the top rope for his sit down powerbomb. Nixon headbutted him off, followed by canvasing him with the Molly Go Round for two. As RSP meekly sat on the canvas, Nixon rested some light tubes against him. She hit the ropes running… halting in her tracks… RSP was on his feet, ready to swing the tubes at her. A flinch…. Glass shattered all over Nixon. RSP grabbed a couple of the still intact tubes and Nixon, driving her with a uranage backbreaker into the glass. Newell crumped to the canvas in a heap, RSP covering her for the three count and victory.

Even in a loss, Nixon had nothing to be ashamed about, for she fought a brutal fight that her and her fans should be proud of. So too proud was her friend Rickey, who gave her respect along with the CZW faithful. This was Nixon’s first death match. But will it be her last? Kay Lee Ray will be a free agent very soon. Just putting out there a wild, sadistic thought.
