September 6, 2026. Markland's Little Acres. Townsend, Delaware. CZW Tournament of Death 23 Night 2. It’s fitting that Summer 2026 began with Nixon Newell’s first Death Match and would end with her returning to Combat Zone Wrestling for her second. Nixon was scheduled to face Death Match Legend Mickie Knuckles in a non-tournament Death Match, unfortunately Mickie was forced to withdraw due to an injury. Best to Mickie in her recovery.
Prior to the event, the wrestlers surrounded the ring to pay tribute to Andy “The Butcher” Williams who had passed away on Saturday September 5, 2026. Williams had been a regular on the indie wrestling scene since 2016, and had a lengthy tenure with AEW from November 2019 until June 2026. I have many fond AEW memories of The Butcher turning fuckers inside out with his clothesline. Rest in Peace Butcher.
Taking Mickie’s place was Nat Castle. This three year pro-wrestler was trained by Pat Buck, Brian Myers and Tournament of Death 23 finalist Bear Bronson. This was her first Death Match. It was noted on commentary, Castle was the first woman of color to compete in a CZW Death Match.
Nixon wasted no time once the opening bell rang, shotgun dropkicking Castle, in the process smashing the light tube Nat was holding against Castle’s stomach. Castle caught Nixon with a German suplex, tossing her into a corner with a plate of glass, Newell just missing the plate. The second German, Nixon was unable to evade, her body smashing right through the glass. Castle grasped Nixon’s arm, climbing to the top rope and walking it old school, coming down with a rana attempt. Nixon blocked it, instead powerbombing her into a bundle of light tubes in the nearest ring corner.
A textbook snap suplex. Choke on the ropes. Nixon stayed in control. Castle’s head was over the ropes, prone to Newell charging at her on the floor, striking her with a Nixongiri to the chest as Nat tried to evade followed by a second flush to the face. Back in the ring, dial up a Nix19 which Newell rightfully gave herself a round of applause and pat on the back for. On the floor, Nixon lifted Castle up, powerbomb dropping her back first to the apron.
Nixon set Castle up for a whip to the guard rail, but Nat reversed it instead splatting Newell back first to the steel. Newell got Nat with a thrust kick, then powerbomb dropped her across the apron for a second time. Nixon was ready to draw blood, pressing a small steel plate with spikes into Castle’s forehead to make it start flowing. Newell relished it, wiping blood from Nat’s forehead onto her own face and chest with a sadistic smile. Nixon whipped Castle into two setup steel chairs, signaling for some Cannon. And Cannonboar it was, Newell smashing Nat’s body against the chairs and guard rail.
Back in the ring, Castle blocked Nixon’s light tube swing, grabbing Nixon by the head and smashing her face first into a bundle of light tubes followed by rubbing her head against her… chest… for fuck sakes this isn’t PG… her cleavage. Nat picked up another bundle of light tubes, smashing them across Nixon’s head as the defiant Welsh Dragon flipped Castle off. Castle was now ready to draw blood of her own, scraping tubes across Nixon’s forehead. As Nixon bled, Castle kicked her down into a corner, then rested a bundle of light tubes against her. Nat charged from the opposite corner, smashing the tubes against Nixon’s face with a hip attack. Hell, that was more like a damn explosion.
Castle struck Nixon with repeated kendo stick shots. Newell shouted for more! Nixon eat each one up, a violent rage brewing. Nixon grabbed a kendo of her own, striking back. There was a duel which Nixon won after her repeated shots forced Castle down to a heap on the canvas. Nixon took a moment to soak in the love of the crowd, giving Nat a chance to respite and grab an office style water machine bottle taped to kendo sticks, which Castle hit Nixon across the head with.
Nixon was canvassed with a neckbreaker followed by cover for two. With a bloodied Nixon rolling to the apron for respite, Castle set up a wooden door with “Break it for Mickie Knuckles” written on it across two steel chairs. But she wasn’t done. A bundle of light tubes were rested on the door. Nixon caught Castle as she dragged her over to the table with a Stone Cole Stunner followed by a modified jackknife cover for two. Nixon climbed to the top rope, whatever she had planned cut off with a kendo stick shot.
Castle struck Nixon with a light tube, Newell defiantly throwing up her middle fingers as she sat in a daze onto the top rope. Nixon blocked Castle’s superplex effort with a headbutt, staggering her on the second rope. Newell powerbombed Castle through the tubes and door, taking any remaining fight out of her giving Nixon the three count and hard-fought win.
For a second time, Nixon showed she has the Ultra-Violent spirit of CZW inside her, taking some and giving some, this time picking up a win. Castle too proved she has the Ultra-Violent spirit of CZW inside her soul with the fight she gave. Nixon roughly pulled Nat to her feet, teasing that she was going to administer more of a beating, only to pull her into an embrace followed by raising her hand. Newell took a quick leave from the ring, giving the moment to Nat Castle to take in the love and respect she had earned from the crowd.
