June 10th 2018. Dakota Kai returned to PROGRESS at Chapter 71 when her best friend Tegan Nox -- going here by her real name Steffanie Newell -- got injured and couldn't compete against PROGRESS Women's Champion Jinny as scheduled. Newell's final match in PROGRESS during her run there from August 2016 to March 2017 was a loss to Jinny in the semi final of the Natural Progression Series IV to crown the first ever PROGRESS Women's Champion. She had hoped her return to the UK independent promotion would see her avenge that loss by winning the title.

Dakota would prove to be the good friend in need, waging war against The Fashionista, promising to "Kick her fucking head off!" Uh... well technically, Newell put her hand over Dakota's mouth before she could swear, reminding her they had to be PG so Kai switched to a more family friendly word. Although Dakota would come close to victory several times in the hard-hitting match, unfortunately Jinny connived her way to victory. After the match, Newell made it clear to Jinny that when healed, she would return for her and the title.
