The Return to Chaos

It's been a bit since we last saw The Welsh Dragon in action. Tegan Nox took a break from singles action to tag with Dana Brooke for an unsuccessful go at becoming #1 contenders for the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles. Her nicer side was present for that outing. Maybe she was in a festive mood for what was her Monday Night RAW debut. Whatever the reason, her return to Main Event has re-emerged the darker side of the dragon. The opponent is Nikki Cross whom Nox shot a wrathful look at following her loss to on the May 18, 2023 episode of Main Event.

August 10, 2023. Target Center. Minneapolis, Minnesota. WWE Main Event. It's been a few days shy of three months since Nox and Cross last did battle on this show. A battle that saw Nox's darker side kick into full effect after a tease in March on SmackDown. Prior to the opening bell, Cross taunted Nox with her ring jacket like a Matador. Nox wasn't amused by that bullshit. The bell rang. Cross caught Nox with a roll-up off a lockup. Nox kicked out.

Nox and Cross exchanged running shoulder blocks. Cross showed some attitude, grinding like Sable and chopping like DX as she stood over Nox. Tegan got to her feet and gave Cross the ole throat thrust followed by a nasty open hand across the face. Cross was maneuvered to the corner where Nox smashed her face first into the middle turnbuckle with a flatliner. Nikki got to her feet only to be sent back to the canvas by Nox's running uppercut. Nox stood over Cross, doing some grinding of her own that put Sable and Nikki's imitation to shame.

Cross got smashed head first to the top turnbuckle followed by a barrage of kicks. Nox followed with a textbook suplex. Cross managed to her feet and to the corner. Nox charged for offense but Cross moved out of the way. A monkey flip followed by a dropkick sent Nox to the floor. Cross prevented Nox's re-entry with a wrecking ball dropkick followed by a crossbody off the apron. The action returned to the ring with Cross pummeling Nox in the corner. Cross went for a tornado DDT off the ropes which Nox countered by tossing her painfully to the canvas.

One nasty PK to the shoulder waffled Cross for a two count. Nox took her aggression out on Cross with mounted punches followed by a nasty stomp to the head. After choking Cross over the middle rope with her knee, Nox dropped her with a sitout groudbuster for two. The charging uppercut in the corner followed by Canonboar. Nox continued to administer pain grinding Cross down with aggressive blows. Cross fought to her feet out of a headlock, breaking free with a jawbreaker. The unhinged Cross took control, hitting two dropkicks, a corner splash and the bulldog.

Nox cut Cross off at the top rope and went for a pin, cleverly putting her feet on the ropes for leverage. The referee stared away from the shoulders down on the canvas and noticed the feet on the ropes, refusing to count to three. Awful officiating. When shoulders are down, just count! Nox rightfully protested it before setting Cross up for another gourdbuster. This time, Cross countered it spiking Nox with a DDT. That was unfortunately the beginning of the end. Cross hit her twisted sister of a neckbreaker The Purge to keep Nox down for the pinfall win.
