Bloody Brilliant

WWE NXT UK launched in June 2018. The brand's weekly series would debut on WWE Network on October 17th 2018. Dakota Kai was excited to be an inaugural part of the NXT UK Women's Division. She would compete in the second ever women's match on the weekly series against Portuguese wrestler Killer Kelly during the October 24th 2018 episode. Kelly was best known to many for her work in German independent promotion Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) where she was the inaugural Women's Champion.

Kai and Kelly were considered two of the best wrestlers on the independent scene prior to signing with WWE making this a dream match to many. Kelly shared Kai's love of kicks but also had a knack for submissions. Kai entered the unique looking Cambridge Corn Exchange venue to a loud ovation. Dakota proved to be a Captain of the People, sitting on the barrier and slapping the hands of some of her team for the night before entering the ring.

Dakota struck hard in the early going, hitting the standing version of Coup-de-Kai. Kelly took control with a jawbreaker, following it up with a Romero Special into a dragon sleeper. The crowd rallied behind Kai to give her momentum. Kelly released the hold to halt that, focusing on signature offense such as the corner dropkick and release German suplex. Kai fought back with some of her favorite kicks before going for the finale. Running face wash. Kaio-Kick. The Kairopractor. Kelly was down for Dakota to score the three count and victory.

Cap Kota would get interviewed in ring about her NXT UK debut. Kai got emotional hearing the crowd... her team for the night... cheer for her. She complimented them, saying nothing compares to competing in front of UK fans. Kai would go on to address the rumors that an NXT UK Women's Championship would soon be announced. Dakota wanted in on that action, promising with a smile she would kick the heads off anyone in her way. That's Our Captain!

The first of two episodes on November 7th 2018 saw Toni Storm address that both Kai and her had their eyes on the soon-to-arrive NXT UK Women's Championship but it wasn't Kai who would win it. Dakota objected, acknowledging respect for her old MCW rival but affirmed she wasn't kidding when she said she'd kick anyone's head off to get what she wants. Kai admitted Storm is good but when they met in the ring on the next episode, she was going to be just a bit better. They shook hands on the best woman winning.

Dakota Kai (back when she was Evie) had clashed with Toni Storm during their tenures in Melbourne City Wrestling. Storm defeated Evie in a battle between Australia and New Zealand at MCW Clash of the Titans 2014 spoiling Evie's MCW debut. They would meet again in November 2014 at MCW Fight for a Cause in the triple threat final of the Jenny & Vera Memorial Cup losing to KC Cassidy. Their NXT UK match would mark their only second ever singles match against each other.

Kai and Storm shook hands in the early going after clean breaks. They went for kicks anticipating the other might. Both women caught and carefully put the other's leg down fully aware the other would take the first chance to strike. Kai went for a roundhouse kick. Storm ducked. Kai took Storm down and landed the standing Coup-de-Kai. They fought on holding nothing back. It built to an intense climax starting with an exchange of strong strikes. Storm lit up after a bit, unleashing a relentless series of blows.

Storm whipped herself at the rope to charge back with offense. Kai met her with a waffling kick to the head followed by another. Storm caught Kai with a release German suplex dumping her inside out. Storm came at Kai in the corner with a charging uppercut. She ran to the opposite corner for another, however Kai cut her off with the Kaio-Kick. Storm evaded the running face wash and went to the opposite corner for a charge. Kai cut her off center ring with a pump kick. Storm caught Dakota on a running PK, dropping her with a German suplex.

Kai got smashed with double knees in the corner before getting put away with the neckbreaker to knee variant of Storm Zero. The better woman won, acknowledged by an embrace between the two. Kai pointed to the victorious Storm before departing the ring. From the entrance, an old adversary of Kai's from Progress Wrestling would appear. Jinny had arrived in NXT UK, attacking Our Captain from behind. The Fashionista claimed this was her NXT UK before exiting stage. Storm made her way up the ramp to check on Dakota and assist her backstage.
